Program Assistant (GS-0344)
This position is located throughout the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Regional Service Centers. This position is assigned to the Service and is responsible for providing substantive office automation, clerical, and administrative support to the assigned program area.
The Program Assistant performs a variety of duties in support of program analysis and support for office program reviews by collecting, analyzing, and organizing information on activities, progress, and resource utilization. Assists in developing guidance to be followed by program components in preparing annual operating objectives and plans, and in providing interpretation of guidance to the program staff.
Essential skills of the Enforcement Support Clerk are:
- Ability to communication both orally and in writing to exchange and coordinate information.
- Experience in applying fact-finding techniques to gather clear-cut information for analyses, and to identify and recommend solutions to problems of a procedural or factual nature.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite Software programs
The Program Assistant can expect to benefit from a hands-on training program, which will include the Department of Transportation Learning Module, On the Job Training, and additional field training involving learning from a variety of Service Center Staff and others in a supportive environment.
