Question: Will electronic logging device (ELD) providers be able to provide an updated public key in the event of a security breach?
Answer: Yes. The public key is required to be kept updated as part of the self-certification process. Public key updates will be vetted by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Additional time will be needed to propagate the update into FMCSA’s systems.
