MCSAP-Eligible CCFP Activities

Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP)

FMCSA offers financial support to State partners through the MCSAP grant, which in 2021 saw an increase in funding of about 61 percent from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). MCSAP formula grants are available to States that partner with FMCSA to develop consistent and effective CMV safety programs. MCSAP recipients are encouraged to consider participating in the CCFP and its data collection efforts.

CCFP Activities Eligible for MCSAP Funding

Only State lead MCSAP agencies may apply for MCSAP funding.

Planned activities eligible for MCSAP funding could include:
•    Crash data collection
•    Post-crash inspections
•    Post-crash investigations
•    Crash reconstruction analysis

In addition to data collection, funding could be used to hire a CMV Data Analyst to transfer or import the requisite data to the CCFP database.

Equipment needed for this activity may be purchased subject to cost principles as defined in CFR part 200, subpart E.

Visit the FMCSA Grants website to learn more about MCSAP.

Applicants must review the MCSAP Comprehensive Policy for detailed guidance on program goals, cost eligibility, and other topics.
