As a Broker of Property or Household Goods you are required to register for Operating Authority. There will be a $300 dollar application fee. Be prepared to comply with additional requirements such as proof of Surety Bond or Trust Fund agreement and a Processing Agent (BOC-3). As a Cargo Tank facility, you are required to register for a Cargo Tank Number. You will be required to register for each facility if you operate different locations. There is no application fee. To begin the process, click the Unified Registration System (URS) icon.

If you plan to operate beyond the commercial zone in the United States, you must register with FMCSA by completing the appropriate forms: MCS-150 , OP-1MX, and BOC-3.

You are required to register for a USDOT and Operating Authority to operate within the Commercial Zone (municipalities along the Southern US border). There will be a $300 dollar application fee for each type of operating authority. Be prepared to comply with additional requirements such as the Processing Agent Designation (BOC-3). Motor Carrier – United States/Canada
I am a business or individual that transports goods or passengers using trucks or other motor vehicles.
Motor Carrier – Mexico
I am a business or individual that transports goods or passengers using trucks or other motor vehicles between the US and Mexico.
Broker
I am a person or business that, for compensation, arranges, or offers to arrange, the transportation of property by an authorized motor carrier.
Cargo Tank Facility
I have a facility that engages in the manufacturing, assembly, inspection and testing, certification, and/or repair of a cargo tank and/or a cargo tank motor vehicle.
Freight Forwarder
I am a person or business that organizes the transportation of goods for others, handling tasks like assemble and consolidate shipments and provide break-bulk and distribution of shipments, storage, and delivery coordination.
Intermodal Equipment Provider (IEP)
I have a business that sells, leases, maintains, repairs, and/or inspects intermodal trailers also known as chassis trailers, container trailers, or skeletal trailers that intermodal containers are transported on.
