EXECUTIVE ORDER REGARDING HURRICANE IDA
MANDATORY EVACUATION
WHEREAS, the National Weather Service has issued a Hurricane Warning and Storm Surge Warning to the Louisiana Gulf Coast, including St. Charles Parish, regarding the potential landfall of Hurricane Ida which is expected to be a major hurricane at landfall.
WHEREAS, Hurricane Ida is expected to make landfall in Louisiana on or about August 29, 2021, with likely impact to St. Charles Parish.
WHEREAS, Governor John Bel Edwards declared a State of Emergency pertaining to Hurricane Ida, which is expected to make landfall along the Louisiana Gulf Coast on or about August 29, 2021.
NOW THEREFORE, I, MATTHEW JEWELL, St. Charles Parish President, considering the emergency advisories issued by the National Weather Service and the emergency declaration by Governor John Bel Edwards, does hereby order and direct as follows:
A Mandatory Evacuation for all areas of St. Charles Parish effective August 28, 2021, at 6:00 a.m. for all residents and visitors until it is determined that it is safe to return.
It is further recommended that during this mandatory evacuation that all residents monitor the Parish website and local news if possible, regarding instructions, information and updates as they become available.
These restrictions shall remain in effect temporarily until it is determined that it is safe to remove them.
