ACE Program: Inspection Demonstrations and Evaluations
Project Goal:
To Explore and identify processes, communication methods, and inspection technologies to facilitate electronic safety inspections of ADS-equipped CMV operations on the roadway, at borders, and in other enforcement settings.
Background:
FMCSA is currently working with a Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Enforcement and Industry Modernization Committee Work Group to develop inspection procedures for ADS equipped CMVs.
Summary:
This new effort will demonstrate, test, and evaluate the processes, methods, and technologies recommended by the CVSA Work Group. Efforts will describe scenarios that will be ready for market implementation in the coming years, and these scenarios require continued research by FMCSA, with the assistance of CVSA, to ensure the roadmap for regulatory compliance can be safely and efficiently completed to meet both market and state needs.
