Washington Emergency Requirements Waiver - August Wildfire 2020
STATE OF WASHINGTON
DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING
PO Box 9228 Olympia, Washington 98507-9228
August 20, 2020
To whom it may concern:
The Governor of the State of Washington has issued Proclamation 20-68 proclaiming a State of Emergency for all counties throughout the state of Washington as a result of on-going wildfires within the state. Under the authority of these proclamations, the Governor has directed state agencies and departments to do everything reasonably possible to support the implementation of the Washington State Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
The State of Washington Department of Licensing has authorized a temporary waiver of IFTA and IRP requirements as well as 3-day trip and special fuel permit requirements under RCW 46.87, RCW 82.38, and RCW 46.16A.320 for the purposes of ensuring that essential emergency relief supplies, equipment and services reach the affected areas of Washington.
This waiver applies only to commercial motor vehicles based outside of Washington that are properly registered and are entering Washington for the specific purpose of responding to the emergency, including vehicles transporting relief supplies and equipment, and vehicles used by relief agencies. Motor carriers and drivers currently subject to an out-of- service order are not eligible for the relief granted by this waiver until they have met the applicable conditions and the order has been rescinded by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration or the Washington State Patrol.
This waiver is in effect until the state of emergency has been rescinded by the Governor of Washington State, or until 11:59 pm on September 30, 2020, whichever is earlier. This waiver is not intended to rescind or extend any previously issued waivers that may currently be active.
A copy of this waiver should be carried inside any vehicle operating under this waiver. Sincerely,
/s/
