Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Launches Annual Our Roads, Our Safety® Week
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Hosts Annual Our Roads, Our Safety® Week
Encouraging commercial motor vehicle drivers and all roadway users to focus on safe driving habits
Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is raising awareness and sharing ways to improve road safety by hosting its annual Our Roads, Our Safety® Week from May 5-11, 2024. The weeklong safety observance is dedicated to educating commercial motor vehicle drivers and all roadway users on how to share the road safely with each other.
“We appreciate the role truck and bus drivers have in supporting a healthy economy and connecting us from coast to coast,” said FMCSA Acting Deputy Administrator Sue Lawless. “This campaign is a reminder for those drivers – and all who share the road with them – to focus on safety as they navigate the nation’s roadways.”
Because road safety is everyone’s responsibility, during Our Roads, Our Safety® Week, we will spotlight a key road user each day of the week and distribute resources, tips, and reminders to help them share the road safely with large trucks and buses. FMCSA’s Our Roads, Our Safety® Week Toolkit includes shareable materials that can help you spread life-saving road safety messages across various mediums.
Join FMCSA and members of the road safety community on Thursday, May 8 at the U.S. Department of Transportation Headquarters in Washington, D.C. for the inaugural Our Roads, Our Safety® Week Fair. This outdoor event is open to all ages and will offer interactive exhibits, driving simulators, and engaging educational activities.
Our Roads, Our Safety® Week is just one of FMCSA’s ongoing road safety outreach and education efforts and aligns with the launch of the agency’s 2024 Our Roads Our Safety Campaign. This national public awareness initiative promotes safe driving practices among commercial motor vehicle drivers and all roadway users.
