ITD Program and Architectural Technical Support
Project Goal:
To provide application, operation, development, maintenance, and technical support to enhance States’ capabilities, through the Innovative Technology Deployment (ITD) Program, to exchange data between the Commercial Vehicle Information Exchange Window (CVIEW) and the Safety and Fitness Electronic Records (SAFER) system.
Background:
The ITD Program (formerly known as CVISN) is a key component of FMCSA's drive to improve commercial motor vehicle safety. This program supports FMCSA's goals by:
- Focusing safety enforcement on high-risk operators.
- Integrating systems to improve the accuracy, integrity, and verifiability of credentials.
- Improving efficiency through electronic screening of commercial vehicles.
- Enabling online application and issuance of credentials.
Summary:
Management of the ITD Grant Program requires support to provide application, operation, development, maintenance, data quality, and technical support to enhance States’ capabilities to exchange data between the State’s CVIEW and FMCSA’s SAFER system. This data exchange consists of processing over 300,000 records daily and distributing these records to over 3,000 fixed weigh stations, remote virtual weigh stations, roadside insection stations, and state truck inspectors’ enforcement vehicles. Because of the many technical components of this program, ongoing program/technical support is required.
