Re: Commercial Driver License (CDL) Impact during Office Closure BL 20-01

Due to our COVID-19 precautionary measures, the Division of Motor Vehicle Driver License Offices are closing to the public effective 03/18/2020. The Division of Motor Vehicles has identified 406 Commercial Driver License (CDL) holders with a hazmat endorsement who have licenses set to expire during the period of expected closure. This means that individuals who have a CDL with hazmat endorsement will not be able to renew their driver license credential in a Driver License Office. In an effort to reduce the burden on drivers due to this office closure, the Division of Motor Vehicles has extended the date of expiration for those credentials by 60 days.

In addition, there are 872 drivers with a Commercial Learners Permit that are set to expire during the expected period of closure. The Division of Motor Vehicles has also extended the date of expiration for Commercial Learners Permits by 60 days.

All other CDL holders who are approaching expiration are encouraged to renew their licenses online at myDMV.colorado.gov.

If you have any questions, please contact the Driver Control Section at 303-205-5613.
