Goal:

To fund website hosting, operation, and maintenance support for the North American Fatigue Management Program (NAFMP).

Background:

The NAFMP is a collaborative initiative to develop a comprehensive, integrated fatigue management program for the commercial motor carrier industry. The NAFMP is designed to reduce driver fatigue through a fully interactive web-based educational and training program.

Multi-Modal Driver Distraction and Fatigue Detection and Warning System, Phase II (SBIR)

Goal:

To provide innovative, practical, fast, and reliable detection of driver fatigue and distraction under a wide variety of operating conditions.

Background:

Fatigue and distraction are among the major risk factors associated with commercial motor vehicle (CMV) crashes. The effects of fatigue on drivers include impaired performance, loss of attentiveness, slower reaction times, impaired judgment, and increased probability of falling asleep.
