MCMIS Data Dissemination Program (MCMIS Catalog)
Background Information
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) created the Motor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS) to collect and store records of FMCSA-regulated entity census and safety performance information. The FMCSA created the MCMIS Catalog as a mechanism to share open data about FMCSA-regulated entities with the public.
The FMCSA offers three basic reports: Census, Crash and Inspection. Requests for a report(s) do include a processing fee at this time and we also offer subscription services for reoccurring report requests. Report customizations may also be requested provided that the information (data field) is included in the MCMIS Catalog. After ordering, you will be notified by our Customer Service Team when the report is available. Reports are only accessible via FTP Download.
Company Safety Profile reports are available at no cost to company officials online in the FMCSA Portal.
Please note that the MCMIS Catalog does not contain all MCMIS fields. Information containing sensitive, security or otherwise confidential information has been redacted. Visit the FMCSA Freedom of Information Act Office (FOIA) page if you have a request to obtain information not included in the MCMIS Catalog.
FMCSA uses data filters, tailored scripts, and quality assurance checks when generating official statistics from the raw data it receives from motor carriers. The data you are receiving/purchasing are raw data and have not been filtered or checked for accuracy.
