Commercial Driver's License Program Improvement Grants Fiscal Year 2013 Awards

Purpose

To improve highway safety by ensuring that States are in compliance with the Federal regulations that require drivers of large trucks and buses to be qualified to obtain and hold the commercial driver’s license necessary to operate those vehicles.

Authorization

Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users, Pub. L. No.109–59, §§ 4101(c) (1), 4124, 119 Stat. 1144, 1715, 1736–37 (2005), as amended by Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century, Pub. L. No.112–141, §§ 32603(c), 32604, 112002(c)(1) (2012).

Statute

49 U.S.C. §§ 31311, 31313 (2006), as amended.

Grantees

States and the District of Columbia. For High Priority and Emerging Issues funding, eligible applicants include States, local governments, and other persons capable of conducting eligible work that is national in scope and benefit.
