T-SPEN—Leading Today for a Safer Tomorrow
The Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks (TACT) State Peer Exchange Network (T-SPEN) is a group of State and local stakeholders participating in the TACT program who are taking the lead in sharing approaches to save lives by reducing crashes between passenger and commercial motor vehicles. The States currently participating in T-SPEN include Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington. Colorado received a special invitation to join T-SPEN as it is gearing up for full participation in a TACT Program.

Vision
The vision of T-SPEN is to serve as the national information resource for TACT programs.

Mission
The mission of T-SPEN is achieved through three primary activities:

• Supporting the sharing of lessons learned among interested and participating TACT States
• Bringing Federal, State, and local resources together to educate the public about safety around big trucks
• Finding the best approaches to save lives through enhanced education and outreach efforts across the Nation

T-SPEN had been meeting monthly via Web Calls since the initial meeting in November 2007. A face-to-face meeting was held in February 2008 to develop strategies for the TACT Forum which was held July 14-17, 2008. Another face-to-face T-SPEN Planning Meeting was held in May 2009. Moving forward, T-SPEN meets bi-monthly via Web Calls to support the TACT Program.

The TACT Forum represented a larger gathering of TACT stakeholders meeting over several days to share lessons learned, expose the program to a broader audience, and expand the outreach efforts.
