FMCSA is pleased to be sponsoring the 2005 ITS/CVO Deployment Showcase February 22-23, 2005, at the Hyatt Regency Savannah in Savannah, Georgia. This important, timely event-the second of its kind-will feature technologies that have been deployed by States, the motor carrier industry and other stakeholders in their efforts to meet FMCSA's safety goal of reducing the large truck fatality rate by 41 percent from 1996 to 2008. These technologies are also helping FMCSA move toward achieving the Congressional goal to deploy the Commercial Vehicle Information Systems and Networks (CVISN) in a majority of States.

The Showcase will feature sessions on CVISN core capabilities and expanded deployment and how to market CVISN from an industry and State perspective. In addition, FMCSA, in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security, will present a workshop that will examine how public and private sector investment in CVISN and other ITS/CVO technologies can be leveraged to enhance homeland security.

This year's Showcase has been scheduled to coincide with the Winter Meeting of ITS America's Commercial Vehicle and Freight Mobility (CVFM) Forum being held February 24-25, 2005, at the same location. The CVFM Forum will meet on Thursday, February 24, and will take a tour of the Port of Savannah on Friday, February 25. A draft agenda covering events, online registration and printable registration forms are available at www.2005Showcase.com.
